Afrluencer awards to bring glitz, glamour

THE 2024 Afrluencer Awards are set to kick off with a bang at the Impala Events and Conference Centre in Bulawayo on October 26.

The event will start at 5:30 pm.

Afrluent Media public relations officer Makhosi Dube said the event shall be nothing short of a classy red carpet experience, with the best ambience and soothing music to light up the mood of the occasion.

“Guests can expect VIP treatment. As Afrluencer, we aim to dazzle guests with riveting performances and providing five-star meals as the awards show takes place. We will also have photoshoots at the event,” he said.

Dube said this year’s Afrluencer awards are different as there are new categories which are the Top Entrepreneur of the Year award as well as Startup of the Year award.

Other award categories include the Top Innovator, Community Service Excellence, Game Changers, Top Sportsperson, Editor’s Special, Top Female Media Influencer of the Year, Content Creator of the Year, Excellence in Beauty and Lifetime Achievement.

The event shall be running under the theme of Black, White and Gold Glamour.

Artistes, mostly from Bulawayo, will entertain guests.

“As Afrluent Media, we would like to promote local artistes. We do not discriminate. We have Holy Stacey, Khwezi, Dray’I, who is an underground artiste who is coming up and we have a dance group called Dance Circle,” Dube said.

On the guest list will be influencers, ministers, officials from the Arts ministry, corporate representative, people drawn across the country as well as those from the diaspora, including Madlela.

Notable nominees include The Chronicle’s Mbulelo Mpofu in the Editors Special Award category, with Alpha Media Holdings’ Mpumelelo Moyo competing for the same spot, while Tonderai Rice, the chief executive officer of Harris Lodges and Entertainment, was nominated for the Afrluencer Man the Year Award, with Anitta Neshiro, of Girl Talk Zimbabwe, being nominated for the Gamechangers Award.
