Through his hilarious storytelling, General Lesley's exceptional comedy set cemented his status as one of Bulawayo's most loved comedians.

The show, themed Afterlife, is aimed at delving into the universally shared reality that everyone is going to die and the uncertainty of what is going to happen afterwards.

Born Lesley Masuku, General Lesley told NewsDay Life & Style that he was shocked by the size of the audience on the responses and reaction he got.

“The audience size was shocking, it was actually way above our expectations because we did not do much advertising. This show’s main objective was to check if I am ready enough for the big stage,” he said.

General Lesley added that preparations for debut show were exciting and nerve wracking

“It’s exciting because I had sleepless nights before the show and at the same time nerve wracking. When preparing the comedy sets, I didn’t know whether I was going to pull it off the way I had scripted and rehearsed it,” he indicated.

“I had no idea how the audience was going to react or receive it positively.”

He also added that he was very surprised as to how the audience received and related with his jokes.

“We used my debut one man show as a warm up in order to prepare for even bigger shows. I am yet to stage another show with other comedians like Chik Aljoy and Sikhanyiso before the year ends,” he said.

Fans also showed huge excitement after the show.

“Basically the show was more than what I expected. It was really exciting to watch deliver such an exceptional work,” said Mandlenkosi Nyoni, one of the fans.

Another fan, Tatenda Gore  said he was wowed by the artist.

“I thought it was something more general but I was really wowed and it was mind blowing,” he said.

Nobukhosi Ncube shared similar views, saying General  Lesley made them forget their everyday challenge.

“It was refreshing to laugh and forget our stress. With the way he is going, he is definitely going to reach greater heights,” Ncube said.
