FASHION god Bernard Hatirarami of Scarless Designs has once again got a thumbs up from another prestigious nomination.

The man, famous for his top-of-the-range suits, is a two-time Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA) nominee, having taken home the gong for outstanding Fashion House last year in November.

He was nominated alongside the equally popular Ganu by Ganu and Sana Designs. Having dressed current and former Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, Mr Zimbabwe, corporate leaders and, notably, some of the celebs who attended the Johannesburg premiere of “Bridgerton”, the youthful founder of Scarless is earning his stripes.

Hatirarami told NewsDay Life & Style  of his excitement on being nominated for the awards.

“I honestly had not expected it. I was happy and surprised, having won the BAAs last year I thought oh great I have had my fair share, you know. It’s refreshing to see that our work at Scarless is really being recognised because we put in the dedication," Hatirarami said.

"Of course one does not necessarily go to work simply to get awards and clout. It’s about the passion and love for it, which fortunately is also work for me, praise God. I am fortunate that I get to work exactly where my heart is, so getting this kind of recognition is a bonus, a pat on the back to say we are on the right track, we need to keep moving.”

In a previous interview with NewsDay Life & Style, he hinted at his intention to create a legacy.

“I do not want to die with my brand and my work, it must outlive me for generations to come like all these other international brands,” he said.

“That dream is becoming a reality as you can see we are getting acknowledged and supported by society. In fact some of our clients are based overseas and we literally have to ship suits to them for their events including weddings, graduations, birthday parties and so on.”

“Once again let me dedicate this nomination to my late father and to my family and team at work. As I always say we can never lose in the sense that being nominated on its own is a win. We will soar to greatest heights from here.Congratulations to the rest of the nominees, may the best man win.”

Some of the designers vying for the gong are Blessing Ncube (Tamay Fashion House), Kundai Caryn (Caryn Amani), Kelly Ndlovu (Bantu clothing) Petronella (Nella Farlons) and Rutendo Shoko (True). The Afrluencers will take place on October 26 at Impala Car Rentals along Khami Road in Bulawayo.
