A BUDDING South African hip-hop star, Sesethu Myeki, is making a name for himself and has captured audiences all over with his hard-hitting rap lyrics.
Popularly known by his stage name Big Xhosa, the youthful sensation has revealed that he intends to collaborate with one big Zimbabwean artiste in the near future — Winky D.
“Zimbabwe is talented. I believe that I would really create something beautiful, that is my vision to one day play in Zimbabwe and that has been my dream even before I became popular this side,” he told NewsDay Life & Style.
“My number 1 dream collaboration will obviously be with Winky D, but I will work with any other talented artiste in Zimbabwe.”
Big Xhosa said he fell in love with the Zimbabwean music scene a while back.
“Growing up here in South Africa, I grew up with a lot of Zimbabwean guys and that is how I fell in love with Zimbabwean music. It has been years since I started following the Zimbabwean music scene,” he said.
“I have been reaching out to a lot of Zimbabwean artistes and I am currently chatting with Nutty O and Enzo Ishall. We have not worked on anything yet, but we are still talking on a regular basis.”
The aim to venture further into the Zimbabwean music scene tallies well with his intention to release an EP.

Born in the Eastern Cape and raised in Cape Town, the young and talented South African hip-hop artiste is making waves on social media platforms, with his lyrical flows taking him as far as the United States to the notorious Sway in The Morning Show.
Big Xhosa courted controversy with his diss track, Ninyile, which has attracted a whopping 1,1 million views on YouTube, where the rapper fires shots at the South African hip-hop game.
The young artiste also doubles as an actor, which has seen him bagging a role in one of South Africa’s biggest telenovelas Isitha: The Enemy, which airs on eTV.
His songs include iTlof Tlof, Loadshedding, Happy Birthday Ski, Ungathethi, Qhoqhoqho, Glory Freestyle, On Your Marks, We Good? and Get Some Money, the last song where he worked with artistes such as iFani.
In the forthcoming EP titled Bye Big Xhosa, the rapper tells it all saying his growth in music has been an emotional one, which had a bearing in his personal and musical life.
He even makes clear his objectives: Creating music that speaks to life in one’s musical taste and space.
Following the success of his 2023 hit single titled My Ex featuring Big Zulu, Big Xhosa said he would like to revert to the old more laid-back version of himself before the internet craze.
“Before I started getting popular on the internet or getting popular in South Africa, I was always making serious music, but then I saw that there was no space for it, so I decided that I should go a little bit crazy on the internet,” he said.
“[The upcoming music] is me going back to my reserved self, so this new music that people say I am making is something that I have been doing for the longest time.
“So it is really me just doing what I was doing before. It is not really rebranding, but about showing people who I really am.”
He added: “But so far so good, people have accepted it. I just need to start dropping music, that is what is important.”
With over 100 000 followers on YouTube and thousands of others on other social media platforms, Big Xhosa said he would like to create memories for his audience.
