Zemura said after seeing that production was not profitable anymore in 2019 he decided to go to school in America and realign everything.

LOCAL film production company Mirazvo Productions is set to hit the screens with a new set of productions consisting of two films and one television series by the end of this year.

Mirazvo Productions, owned by writer, director and producer Nick Zemura last produced a television series Muzita Rababa in 2019, which featured local musician Ammara Brown.

The series was aired on state broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) TV and a local television station NRTV.

In an interview with NewsDay, Zemura said after seeing that production was not profitable anymore in 2019 he decided to go to school in America and realign everything.

“I moved to America and studied for a Masters in Producing for Films at the American University,” he said.

“It was a conscious decision that I made, we actually wanted to go and improve ourselves.”

Zemura, who is based in America, came back to Zimbabwe in June for the new productions which he said they will finish filming by the end of this week.

The new productions consist of two films and one television series, the first one is Transactions, a romantic comedy of people who fell in love without wanting to fall in love.

Jekesai is a traditional drama where a medical doctor who in her practice stops and follows Mudzimu calling. The story connects with people as it plays the Christian versus African Traditional Religion (ATR) scenario.

The last one is Ndiwe Chete, a drama of a young couple very much in love and the wife dies leaving the husband alone.

Zemura said the new project aims to show the beauty of Zimbabwe as people tend to look down upon our country.

“So in the new productions I want to show people a side of Zimbabwe that they do not expect to see.

“We went all out looking for places to film from and invested in good equipment for good quality.”

The first film will premiere internationally by the end of November or early December this year and the television series will be streamed online via an international film service.
