Expect fireworks at Miss Teen of The Universe: Poptain

ZIMDANCEHALL sensation Poptain Yardbwoy has promised his fans fireworks at the upcoming Miss Teen of The Universe, set to be held tomorrow at the ZITF Grounds in Famona, Bulawayo.

The premier pageant was successfully launched at a glamorous event last month, which was attended by celebs from Mzansi as well as Zambia, including actress Rami Chuene and reality TV star Mutale Mwanza.

Poptain told NewsDay Life & Style that he cannot contain his excitement for the upcoming event.

“I look forward to having a good time there. Remember, Bulawayo issa [is a] special place. It is like my second home because I always feel a deeper connection with my audience there. The love is there and it is real,” he said.

The Kokai hitmaker said he would also be testing the waters for new projects.

“I have something nice in store for them [fans] because I will also be sampling new music while entertaining the crowd on stage,” Poptain said.

“I know the vibes are going to be great. Everyone must come and join us as we celebrate the models who will be showcasing their talents and beauty. I congratulate all of them.”

One of the pageant organisers Michelle Tshuma said they were almost done with preparations.

“Preparations are underway and this is the first pageant of its kind as the primary focus is to use pageantry to engage the girl child and empower them to partake in pro-social behaviours,” she said.

“The scope of the work goes beyond the pageant. The models are getting ready for their first bootcamp, which spans over three days. They will be engaged in workshops based on their chosen advocacies.”

Tshuma added: “Celebrities, mentors and various young women in business will be intensively working with the girls over three days as we aim to equip them with the resources (to prepare them for) the global stage at the international finals in India.

“We are in partnership with key stakeholders such as Fixation, Glowing Lins, Deluxe Villa and other notable businesses in the city to ensure the event will be spectacular.”

Fourteen models are vying for a chance to win a car and a scholarship opportunity.

The winner will travel to India to compete at an international stage as well as meet and network with other super models and stars.

They are currently at a boot camp at Blue Hills in Bulawayo.

Other artistes billed to perform on the spectacular night include Mr Grey, Mzistozz Mfanafuthi, Cuniva and the NoName Dance Crew.
