REIGNING Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2023 Brooke Bruk-Jackson who emerged victorious after vying for the crown against a bevy of 12 beauties last year said there is more to beauty pageants than titles and winning.
The model, who prefers to be called by her first name Brooke, represented the country at Miss Universe which was held in El Salvador, Central America. She did not bring the crown home as Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua was crowned Miss Universe.
The pageant itself was a win for Zimbabwe as it was reinstated on the international stage after a 22-year hiatus.
“The Miss Universe Zimbabwe is not just about the crown, sash or the title but a platform for models to use their voice, for empowerment, to make a difference and a platform for them to share their stories and most importantly for showing the world who we are as a nation,” Brooke said.
The model waits to crown her successor and guide the winner through her own experiences as Miss Universe Zimbabwe. The pageant has announced auditions for this year with the final set for next month in the capital at a venue yet to be announced.
“My journey was a very unexpected one yet something I would never want to change. I would like to urge all of those who may be on the edge to enter because this could be you, this could be your year,” she said.
Miss Universe Zimbabwe contestants last year were Stacy Hall, Allyfina Mwanyali, Angela Guta, Amanda Mpofu, Yamikani Nyenga, Nicole Musiyarira, Prudence Moyo, Noliwe Shand, Audrey Ward, Nokutenda Marumbwa and Life Matunzeni.
