PUBLIC health expert Tonderai Kasu is delighted to have landed a contract to author two books on public health leadership in Zimbabwe for publication by South African publisher African Sun Media.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, the decorated academic said he was over the moon after being given the opportunity to make a positive contribution in his field.

“I am very proud and grateful for the opportunity to share my scholarly work and make a positive contribution to the body of knowledge in my field,” Kasu said.

Kasu is proud that he will be able to tell the Zimbabwean story motivated by his desire to uplift and develop Zimbabweans.

“The first book will use the health policy and systems approach to examine the management and leadership of public health institutions and will offer insights into the unique socio-economic and political situation of our country, while the second book will examine financial management in the country’s public health institutions with a focus on decentralisation and devolution as components of the new public management and within the context of the New Institutional Economics,” said Kasu.

Kasu, a medical doctor by profession, holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Public Health.

His research interests include health policy and systems research, a sub-discipline of public health.

Kasu also indicated that the country’s public health environment at the moment is characterised by constrained resources and adversity, requiring adaptive leadership.
