IN the world of music there are many artistes whose life stories, told through melodies, have captivated and inspired many listeners.

Zimbabwe-born singer and producer Michael “Micyunging” Matewe who is based in Toronto, Canada, has a unique knack of reliving inspiring personal experiences through song.

The information technology engineer-cum-musician is set to drop his second album Mavambo (Genesis) on November 11 as an early Christmas present to his fans. Micyunging released his debut album titled Sub-Saharan last year. The album is available on most digital streaming platforms.

He told NewsDay Life & Style that the forthcoming album, was not just a collection of songs, but a work of love and creativity. The album promises to be a breath-taking journey of heart and soul for the singer who has collaborated with many trending artistes.

It draws inspiration from Micyunging’s life events and his beautiful daughter, Yannah.

The album was produced by a talented team which included award-winning sound engineer-cum-producer Golden Fingers, KanaBoy, QuaZor and Micyunging. It features the likes of Mr Moreni, famed for the hit track Ngirozi and hip hop rapperTiGonzi.

“As I believe in unity among artistes, I have joined forces with fellow musicians to create something truly extraordinary on this album. This has added an exciting dimension to my musical experience,” Micyunging said.

Behind the production of the album, DJ Pro, the founder of Eyelaxx Media is a key player on the visual front, ensuring that videos are as captivating as the audios.

Multi-talented artist, WellyGraphix takes charge of animations, graphics and also contributes to the music creation process to add an artistic flair that elevates the album’s presentation.

“Each song on the album carries a unique story and sound, ensuring that there is something for every music lover,” he said. “Most of my songs and melodies come as dreams, I believe God communicates with me that way.”

With support from such artistes as Bling4 among others, Micyunging will perform in Dubai as part of promoting the album to his fans.

The singer is on record saying that even though he was inspired by Chris Brown and Bow Wow, he remains his own role model as he always believed in building his personal brand without imitating anyone.

Before moving to Canada, Micyunging worked for Walt Disney World in Florida, United States.
