GWERU-BASED gospel musician and music teacher at Cecil John Rhodes Primary School, Tinomutenda Chihora today launches his eighth album in the Midlands capital.
Chihora, the founder and director of Midlands Marimba Arts Group, said the eight-track album was named after two tracks," Chipo Chomweya Mutsvene and Tenga Zvokwadi."
“The song Chipo Chomweya Mutsvene bears the signature rhythmic identity of my church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe. The song points to the need for Christians to seek insightful guidance of the holy spirit for all their prayers to be powerful and precise,” he explained.”
“Tenga Zvokwadi is a post COVID-19 introspection which was composed in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. The song highlights the need for self-sufficiency from the family right up to the national level.
“The pandemic taught us that there can be a time when we are isolated to the extent that only our resourcefulness can save us and this song is supported by Proverbs 23vs 23.”
He said other songs on the album included Zvipe Nguva, Kana Ndisina Rudo, which points to tolerance, love and unity among people for harmonious co-existence, Murapi Wedu Uripo and Ndinouya Ndega, while the seventh and eighth tracks are instrumentals of the respective songs.
Chihora said he would donate the proceeds of sales from the album to developmental projects in his church.
“I want to give thanks to my fans who kept encouraging me to produce songs even at a time when I felt like quitting,” he said.
