ORGANISERS of the inaugural July Festival have said there has been positive response to ticket sales of the potentially explosive fete set for July 29 at The Odyssey in Kadoma.
Award-winning arts promoter, 2 Kings Entertainment is behind the festival to be headlined by South African Afro-pop music duo, Blaq Diamond.
“Having decided to release the advance tickets on time to ease pressure on fans on the concert day, we are happy with the response. Music fans have endorsed this festival and its line-up as evidenced by the positive response of the ticket sales,” festival co-ordinator Dee Nosh told NewsDay Life & Style yesterday.
“As we have made it known, we are more than committed to giving music fans great entertainment hence, the reason we have pegged our early bird tickets for the festival at US$5 and US$15 VIP, respectively.”
Made up of the Afro-soul duo of Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa, Blaq Diamond will share the stage with local stars Ammara Brown, dancehall chanters Nutty O and Uncle Epatan.
Dee Nosh said the festival was meant to provide a platform for local artistes to share notes with international talent.
“We are just looking forward to a great and memorable show at The Odyssey which is increasingly becoming the home of showbiz, hosting both top local and foreign acts,” he said.
Among the artistes that have performed at The Odyssey are Congolese Soukus singer Koffi Olomidé, top South African acts DJ Tira (born Mthokozisi Khathi), Afro-pop group Mafikizolo and multi-award-winning songbird Makhadzi (born Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona).
