NOONE remembered that South African artistes DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small and Shasha stood them up last year at the Vic Falls Carnival as the Mzansi duo of Oskido and Micasa belted out vintage hits at this year’s jamboree.
DJ Maphorisa, Shasha and Kabza De Small who were supposed to be headline acts at last year’s carnival did not attend the popular music event, prompting organisers to take legal action against the amapiano stars.
That is now water under the bridge as party lovers were last week treated to a cocktail of amusing events at the recently-ended 11th edition of the carnival, in the resort town of Victoria Falls.
Musical performances from more than 30 local and foreign acts maintained the carnival’s theme of music and dance.
House and kwaito legend Oskido was one of the South African artistes who graced the stage, belting out vintage house tunes which once took the region by storm.
Micasa also performed its yesteryear hit tracks after years of not performing in Zimbabwe.
Jah Prayzah, who is set to launch his latest album next month, also took time to remind fans who he is on stage and to prepare them for his May 12 and 13 album launches in Harare and Bulawayo.
Micasa and Jah Prayzah arguably brought the roof down by their highly engaging performances at Elephant Hills Resort.

Globe-trotting group Mokoomba said it was glad to have performed at the carnival.
The group, which hails from Chinotimba, a high-density suburb in the resort town, made its third appearance at the carnival on the closing night.
“We are always busy on the road, performing outside Zimbabwe and when we get such an opportunity to perform for locals, especially at home in Victoria Falls, it’s always a pleasure.
“We feel good to perform in Victoria Falls and at the carnival which is our third time at this annual festival. After the carnival we will perform at Miombo Festival and later at the Bushfire Festival in Swaziland,” said Trust Samende of Mokoomba.
The jamboree started off with a sunset cruise party, followed by an exclusive show on the riverbank at Pure Africa. The Elephant Hills Resort Hotel hosted the main stage which made the three nights a scintillating experience.
To capture a wide audience, carnival organisers introduced a new destination: Livingstone, Zambia, where the Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya resort was the host of Zambian leg of the event.
Other artistes who performed on Friday were Anita Jaxson, Khoisan and Top Cheri.
