SOUTH-AFRICA-based Zimbabwean professional tattooist and disc jockey Clinton “DJ Salt” Ngwenya is enjoying his artistic life across the Limpopo.

DJ Salt revealed that ever since he migrated to the neighbouring country, he has been fortunate to share the stage with most famous amapiano DJs and artistes.

The wheel spinner started his career about 10 years ago and moved to South Africa in search of greener pastures.

“I started deejaying around 2012 just after high school at The Horizon with Blacksie, who was organising such gigs for me. I also played at the club called The Basement long back and would also attend to DJ battles whenever I got slots, since I did not have a permanent place,” he explained.

“I then decided to move to South Africa and that is where I got my first residence, at Club Dollars. I was also doing private functions before I started working with LXD events, those are the people that I have been working with since around 2016.”

DJ Salt’s love for music at a tender age inspired him to venture into deejaying and embraced it as a career.

“I am excited to be on board for a forthcoming gig in Zimbabwe alongside DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. This will be my fifth time playing at a concert in Zimbabwe and sharing the stage with such influential artistes will help to market my brand,” he explained.

Away from the turntables, Ngwenya said he also took his tattooing business seriously when he crossed the Limpopo River.

“The tattoo business started in 2016, but by then I was doing it for free because I was still perfecting my skill and it was part-time,” he said.
