The musician, together with Ndolwane Supersounds’ Martin Sibanda, join two other ambassadors that were unveiled last week in a deal that is worth $200 000.
According to officials from the cigarette manufacturer, the deal is a milestone for local arts that have often struggled for recognition while sports and other disciplines flourished.
Savannah Tobacco has previously concentrated on football having worked with Premier Soccer League giants Dynamos Football Club, Caps United Football Club and Black Rhinos.
But Black Rhinos were last season relegated to the First Division and Savanna Tobacco says this year they are concentrating on the arts.
Jah Prayzah yesterday hailed the company for the deal and said it would go a long way in raising his and other artistes’ profiles.
”Association with corporates always means we are growing. This deal did not come because I have grown, but instead, it has grown my profile,” said Jah Prayzah. “I will try all I can to work with Savanna in this partnership just as I have worked with the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.”
