WARRIORS’ and Chicken Inn goalkeeper Donovan Bernard will this morning fly out to join his new side Kruger FC, who play in the South African National First Division.
Kruger United chairman Bongani Wati yesterday confirmed that Bernard was on his way, but they are yet to conclude the deal with the GameCocks number one despite that everything is looking positive.
“For now, I can only confirm that he (Donovan) is landing in Nelspruit tomorrow (today). I know everybody wants him,” Wati said.
“There are two clubs that want him, so I need to conclude the deal with Chicken Inn. We have been talking with Chicken Inn from last season.
“I could say the deal is 80% complete. Donovan doesn’t need assessment. He is coming to be our number one goalkeeper.
“I am happy with how Chicken Inn handled things and gave us the preference. In principle, it’s a done deal, we just have to finish the paperwork.”
Confirming the deal but also without much detail, Chicken Inn secretary Tavengwa Hara, aspiring to be Zifa board member in the upcoming elections, could only say the GameCocks want to continue to be the country’s biggest exporter of players.
“We are the biggest exporter of players outside the country and we want to revive that,” Hwara said.
