TWO of the country’s top golfers Scott and Kieran Vincent were relegated from the lucrative LIV Golf League after finishing in the bottom five on the leaderboard at the end of the final individual tournament in Chicago on Sunday.
However, the two brothers have a chance to bounce back into the Saudi-backed golf tournament when they take part in the LIV Golf Promotions event.
It was through the LIV Golf Promotions that Kieran managed to qualify for the money-spinning league after agonisingly missing out on automatic qualification following an impressive season in the Asia Tour.
Despite their relegation, the two Zimbabweans managed to earn over US$1 million in the competition this year alone with Kieran taking home US$1 841 997 in individual competition while Scott bagged US$2 351 833.
The earnings are much more for Kieran, whose team Legion XII has done well this year.
At LIV Golf Chicago which all but confirmed their relegation for the competition, Scott and Kieran finished in a tie for 23rd along with five other golfers, with the former shooting rounds of 71, 71 and 60, while the latter managed 75, 69 and 66 at the par 70 Bolingbrook Golf Club.
While they have produced more or less similar results during the course of the season, Scott finished on position 50 for the season, while Kieran was 54th.
Scott’s best performance during the season was a tie for 16th at LIV Golf United Kingdom after shooting 6-under par in three rounds, while he had another sub 20 finish at LIV Golf Nashville, where he was in a six-way tie for 17th LIV Golf Andalucía in Spain.

On the other hand, Kieran managed just one top-20 finish after he tied for 18th along with seven other golfers in Nashville, the United States, in June.
The Vincent brothers have an opportunity to earn their way straight back into the competition thanks to the LIV Golf Promotions event, with all relegated players gaining entry into the three-day shootout in Abu Dhabi later this year.
Bubba Watson, who is captain for the Range Goats, Kalle Samooja and Branden Grace, are three other golfers who have been relegated.
Of interest is the fact that three of the four golfers dropped from LIV Golf last term entered the LIV Golf Promotions event in December 2023, but none of them finished in the top three as Samooja and Kieran clinched a spot alongside Jinichiro Kozuma.
Should the relegated five from 2024 fail to earn a LIV spot back via the promotions tournament, they will have the consolation of Asian Tour status for the following campaign.
The Asian Tour is a partner of LIV and offers one full card to the winner of its International Series, which has been heavily funded by the PIF-backed circuit.
