TUSKERS registered their first victory of the 2023/24 Pro 50 Championship season after edging Rhinos by three runs in a match played at Queens Sports Club on Sunday.
Sean Williams was named player-of-the-match for his three wickets for 33 runs from nine overs in a winning cause.
On song batsman, Antum Naqvi, scored a 103-ball century, his second of the season albeit in a losing cause.
After batting first, Tuskers totalled 252/9 in their 50 overs buoyed by half centuries from Milton Shumba with 67 runs from 85 balls and their skipper, Brian Chari’s 63. Wicketkeeper batsman, Clive Madande, weighed in with 26 while Williams added 23 runs.
Rhinos, who were yet to taste defeat this season, were bundled out for 249 runs on the last ball of the match needing three runs to tie and four to win despite Naqvi’s heroics that saw him perish on 100 as he was run out attempting to return the strike while sensing danger of running out of partners.
