AN improved second half performance by Chicken Inn helped them to edge Hwange in a lukewarm Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Luveve Stadium yesterday.
The win, a second on the trot for Chicken Inn saw the Prince Matore coached side climb to fourth on the log standings at the halfway stage of the league race.
The match had a 15 minute delay as there was a clash of colours with both teams putting on black shots and yellow stockings.
The first half was a tepid affair with the two teams struggling for fluency.
Chicken Inn were quick off the blocks with Brian Muza almost scoring what could have been the fastest goal of the season, but shot straight at goalkeeper Wellington Muuya straight from kickoff.
In the 30th minute Mlilo Marceline shrugged off his marker and his shot brought the best out of Pride Zendera as Chipangano threatened to embarrass the hosts.

Muza had the best chance of the first half when a cross from the left eluded the Hwange defence, but Muuya was quick off the line to deny him from close range just before the break.
The second half was a livelier affair with Chicken Inn playing with more intent.
Itai Mabhunu thrust the Gamecocks into the lead, three minutes after halftime. The Hwange defence was caught napping from a corner kick and Mabhunu fired from close range beating a bemused Muuya.
Hwata doubled the Gamecocks lead in the 61st minute when he finished off his own rebound with a header.
Gadzikwa pulled one back for Hwange in the 84th minute when he corrected his earlier mistake by controlling a pass from Tshuma and slotting it past Pride Zendera to give Chipangano hope.
However, it was a bit late as Chicken Inn held on to win their second match on the trot.
Prince Matore was elated with the victory and he was happy his boys managed to score from the chances that they create while his Hwange counterpart Nation Dube bemoaned the defensive errors.
At Gibbo Stadium, Manica Diamonds beat Bulawayo Chiefs 3–1 while ZPC Kariba recorded a narrow 1–0 win over Cranborne Bullets at Nyamhunga.
