Zimbabwe’s top female bodybuilder Regina Jonga is revelling in her achievements after she came second at the World Fitness Federation Championships held in Indonesia over the weekend.

She faced competition from Australia, Russia and the United States among others.

Jonga realised her dream of competing at the global showcase after she got sponsorship from fitness enthusiast and entrepreneur Cathy Martin.

She expressed delight at getting the opportunity as well as bringing back a piece of silverware.

“I would like to thank my sponsor Cathy for making my dream come true, it means a lot to me. I felt so happy to compete at international level because that was always my wish,” she said.

“My journey to Indonesia was great and I enjoyed a lot. I wish to stay for some more weeks. I am feeling happy with my position because before the show, I was thinking that maybe I could not even make it to the top six because the show wasn’t a small one.”

Jonga said she worked hard for this competition as she had set goals for herself and wanted to accomplish them.

“The competition wasn’t tough for me because this time I had worked hard and prepared for it properly. I gained a lot of experience. What I can say about the experience of Zimbabwe bodybuilding compared to that show is that it’s just that our economy is not good but we are well organised.”

Jonga will be preparing for yet another competition that will be staged in South Africa from December 1 to 4.
