Consistency of theology

Opinion & Analysis
This column has established that the Gospel we received in order to be saved should not change tone. Should it change, then it becomes another gospel or heresy.

THE Bible teaches us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. What brought us into salvation or born again state should be consistent.

The message should not change. We quote Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

This column has established that the Gospel we received in order to be saved should not change tone. Should it change, then it becomes another gospel or heresy.

In emphatic mention, Apostle Paul explains in Galatians 1:8-9, “[8] But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. [9] As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

Apostle Paul puts his ministry on line if he has changed. So serious is the Gospel of Christ. We don’t promise hearers imaginary remission of sins and the blessing of salvation.

Many heard John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

If we proclaim eternal life and salvation from eternal damnation, we should not teach otherwise when attendees come through our church doors.

The present day ministry of Jesus Christ is in accordance with His finished/accomplished work.

As we continue to hear the Word, we gain more knowledge. We discover what God had in store for us before the world began.

What we struggled with or what we’re still struggling with hitherto is solved by knowledge of the truth.

Jesus taught in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The truth makes us free. Please note that the Bible does not say the truth shall set us free as if we are in bondage.

Salvation set us free. More knowledge makes us free from imaginary chains.

If we told you when we first presented the Gospel that you were delivered, we should not enrol you into a deliverance class as if the first time God did not do a good job.

Our deliverance is a past tense spiritual reality.

Colossians 1:13 reads, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

We know that the Gospel of Christ is the blessing to humanity. Receiving it breaks curses.

We agree with Ephesians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” We are blessed and should I bring up seed for you to be blessed, run away.

One may argue that the blessings are in heavenly places and for them to be realised in the physical realm we need to do something. Where do we find the believer?

Ephesians 2:6 answers, “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” We are exactly where the blessings are.

Let no one spoil you. We are careful so that we are not made to pay for what God freely gave us and we do not sow to have what we already have.

Colossians 2:8, Amplified, is instructive, “See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception [pseudo-intellectual babble], according to the tradition [and musings] of mere men, following the elementary principles of this world, rather than following [the truth — the teachings of] Christ.”

The usual attack on the presentation of the purity of the Gospel of Christ is that we are encouraging believers not to give and, therefore, agents of the devil or antichrists. Properly taught and fed believers are generous.

They don’t need to be manipulated in order to contribute to the cause of the church and the preaching of the Cross.

The Gospel of Christ preaches a done deal. We don’t proclaim futuristic false hope.

The remission of sins was once and for all and past, present and future. The Gospel of Christ proclaims a done deal. We don’t present futuristic false hope. Our sins were forgiven past, present and future.

We read Hebrews 10:12,14, “[12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; [14] For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
