Police probe US$74 000 armed robbery at Chivayo in-laws’ farm

HARARE, Mar. 18 (NewsDay Live) – Police are investigating a case of armed robbery that occurred at tenderpreneur and socialite Wicknell Chivayo’s in-laws’ farm in Marondera.

 

The alleged robbery occurred  after Chivayo had paid huge sums of money as bride price for his wife Lulu Muteke

 

In a statement Tuesday, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the robbery occurred at Alpha Omega Farm in Marondera at around 1am on March 18.

 

Said Nyathi: “20 suspects who are yet to be identified and armed with rifles, pistols, bolt-cutters, machetes and iron bars attacked the farm security personnel.

 

“The suspects went on to assault family members, cut burglar screens and forced open doors. They then gained entry into the family house.”

 

He said they took away US$74 100 cash, a pistol, Samsung S24, Samsung S23 and Samsung Galaxy A35 mobile phones, among other valuables.

 

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police appeals for information which may assist to identify and lead to the arrest of the 20 suspects.”
