THE Methodist Church in Zimbabwe (MCZ)-owned Waddilove High School in Marondera, Mashonaland East province, emerged as one of the best learning institutions in the province after 55 learners scored 15 points and above in the just released Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) Advanced level results.
A total of 128 learners out of 144 scored 10 points and above, with the school maintaining its top position in the province in academic excellence.
The learning institution produced a whizkid who scored 25 points, while 10 learners bagged 20 points each.
A total of 31 learners scored 15 points each, while 20 scored 14 points.
The results saw 128 learners scoring 10 points and above, while 55 of them had either 15 points or more.
According to Zimsec, 31 443 of the 33 246 candidates got Grade E or better in two or more subjects, representing a pass rate of 94,58% compared to 94,60% in 2023 nationally.
MCZ secretary for education Daniel Muzenda attributed the good pass rate and academic success within the church’s schools to dedicated teaching staff and other stakeholders.
“The school administration, teachers, parents and learners at the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe mission schools are upbeat about the 2024 Advanced Level results produced by the school.

“One hundred years after its establishment, the school (Waddilove High) is still growing and nurturing excellence, making it the school of yesterday, today and tomorrow,” Muzenda said.
“The 2024 results are symptomatic, speaking volume about sound supervision, keeping learners busy through rigorous study and a crop of teachers who are competitive and spurred by the zeal to set the bar high.
“The results also reflect the thrust of MCZ as clearly stated on pillar 5 of its mission titled Excelling Education Service with Article 1 saying quantitative and qualitative growth of schools.
“Quality education for the MCZ-run schools remains at the centre and circumference of its activities.”
Waddilove High School is credited for having a vibrant and robust library facility in the province.
“Waddilove High School has thus lifted the flag of the church, and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education by continuing to churn out luminaries that are reliable stones in the building of Zimbabwe,” Muzenda added.
“It is not only Waddilove High School. We have Sandringham, which has close to 40 fifteeen pointers and Kwenda Mission which has 29 learners with 15 points.
“The custodians of results, the teachers, also need a standing ovation for working very hard and for being on the ball. Such results are only produced by classroom practitioners who are driven by nothing else except the enthusiasm for quality results.”
