HUNDREDS of households enjoyed a rare Christmas cheer after Chitungwiza mayor Rosaria Mangoma distributed hampers to vulnerable people in Harare’s dormitory town.
The goods were distributed through the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund, a generous initiative launched earlier last month, aimed at bringing joy and relief to those in need during the festive season.
Several organisations and individuals contributed to success of the initiative.
“We are grateful to our community, local businesses, organisations, and donors for their support. Your contributions have made it possible for us to bring joy and relief to many families in Chitungwiza,” Mangoma said during the handover ceremony.
She, however, called on the community to continue giving to the less-privileged as part of spreading hope and warmth to them.
“As we distribute these groceries, we are not only providing for physical needs, but also spreading hope and warmth to the less fortunate,” Mangoma said.
Among the donors were prophet Miracle Paul, Lobels, Nyaradzo Life Assurance Company and Chitungwiza Business Community Trust chairman Tendai “Also” Mareya.
Acting town clerk Evangelista Machona said the council’s desire was to increase the number of beneficiaries next year.
