The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority supported by dozens of armed uniformed and plain clothes policemen on Monday raided Dulibadzimu Bus Terminus and seized millions of dollars worth of goods deemed smuggled.
The goods were loaded in a truck that made dozens of trips between the State Warehouse and the terminus.
Hundreds of shoppers, mostly women who buy and sell for a living were left dejected, hopeless and lost after Zimra officials brought in hired casual labourers to sweep clean the bus terminus.
Hundreds of people among them travellers, bus crews, ordinary residents looked helplessly as officials marauded.
In an indiscriminate assault on the buses and passengers the officials combed the terminus and ordered some buses to their border post to declare goods.
"They have taken all my savings, all I have worked for this year. We have no jobs, we strive to send children to school, we have been hit hard," said one woman whose bales of clothes had been taken.
