EMERGING entertainers, No Name Dance Crew, experienced a deeper understanding of the phrase “be at the right place at the right time” after they stole the show this past weekend during Sandra Ndebele’s birthday celebration.

The dancers left an indelible impression on South African music industry heavyweight DJ Tira. They had taken to the stage for an impromptu dance routine during Sandra Ndebele’s lavish birthday bash when they stole Tira’s attention.

No Name Dance Crew, which is made up of Carlton Ncube, Prince Chibansha and Methembe Blinko Ndlovu, told this publication that it wasn't  billed to perform and that it was just fate.

“We attended Sandy’s Pearls on Denim (theme of the party) just as guests to celebrate with her and also to observe as well as learn. That's what we always do, we go to events even if we are not necessarily working, with the intention of observing and consume the art that would be on display. It was an amazing twist of events, very impromptus but you wouldn’t have guessed,” said Ncube, known for his fashion sense which has earned him the nickname “Umnuko we Thrift”.

Ndlovu, gave a similar comment.

“It was actually our publicist who got us invited there and insisted we network. Remember on the night DJ Tira performed alongside the Qwabe twins so it was also a great opportunity  to mingle with fellow creatives. So as the evening progressed and people were dancing and enjoying, we naturally also got off our seats and danced like the rest of the guests, that’s when our PR guy came through with Sandra,” he said.

“When she saw us grooving and that a small crowd bad begun to gather, she then encouraged and permitted us to join DJ Tira on the main stage. We were not so sure as we hadn’t prepared for that but well we went up and as they say, the rest is history.”

''When the trio was on stage, suddenly everyone had their phones out recording the dance moves and after a little more than 10 minutes the boys bowed out of the stage, only for Tira to ask for more and bring them back. This time around they went to town to on the routines as Tira joined them, amazingly all four of them synchronised as if they had rehearsed together. It was such an intriguing performance that Tira had to call them back again," Ndebele said.

“That’s when I knew we had done something right. We struck a chord with him as well as Sandra and the crowd. I want to thank everyone who gave us support and all that energy as well as the birthday girl. Thank you Sandy for trusting us with your event and for respecting our craft,” Prince told NewsDay Life & Style.

The versatile group said this would be a year of hard work for them as they intended to make their mark in the industry.

Ndebele endorsed them in an interview with NewsDay Life & Style on the sidelines of the birthday bash.

“I am proud of them. I did not know we are sitting on a gem.You know me and art, anything to see artists getting connections and opportunities I am game. So I am happy that they got to market themselves, I must say they are gifted and I will definitely work with them in the near future.”

The lavish bash was exclusive and featured a number of famous faces including SA duo the Qwabe twins, who also performed. Hosts for the night were Zandile Zazalicious Ndlovu and DJNospa while Lorraine Guyo also went to the stage to dance for the crowd.
