The Vine Choir unveils Great is Thy Faithfulness

The Vine Choir

THOSE who were privileged to attend The Vine Choir’s live album recording at the Harare International Conference Centre last year can testify that it was, indeed, a memorable night of soul-stirring performances.

The venue was transformed to a vibrant hub of praise and worship as the gospel enthusiasts were treated to superb performances by both international and local gospel music icons.

The live recording was headlined by multi-award-winning American gospel singer and songwriter Jekalyn Carr and compatriot VaShawn Mitchell alongside performers from South Africa and Germany.

Also, one of the stellar performers of the night was United Kingdom-based Zimbabwean singer Blessing Annatoria Chitapa, all in celebration of The Vine Choir’s incredible 10-year journey in the competitive music industry.

The Vine was founded in 2014, under the directorship of multi-award-winning gospel musician Everton Mlalazi.

It released its debut album Musandipfuure in 2018, which was followed by a live recorded 12-track album titled The Great Physician about four years later.

On The Great Physician, the choir collaborated with a South African Grammy award-winning Soweto gospel choir, Mzansi gospel singer Mahalia Buchanan, Mabongi Mabaso and a 40-piece orchestra, among others.

Almost after six months of production, The Vine Choir has released a 13-track live recorded album titled Great is Thy Faithfulness.

The album was produced by Nigel Nyangombe, known for his expertise in gospel music, mixed by Courage C O G Beats and mastered by Dave McNair ensuring high-quality sound.

Songs featured are Sewakhile (He is Built) featuring Mlalazi, title track Great is Thy Faithfulness, I Know The Plans, Tariro featuring Annatoria and Peniel Tambama, Wait on the Lord featuring Jekalyn Carr and Glory To His Name featuring Vashawn and Mlalazi.

Other songs on the album are Musandipfuure (remix), Sweet By And By, You Are God Alone, Praise Medley featuring Natasha Mlalazi, Peace Love and Trust, Heaven and Tenzi Nditungamire featuring Natasha Mlalazi.

The Vine Choir manager Gamuchirai Mlalazi said the album was a double celebration of their 10th anniversary and a decade of ministry, adding that they were grateful that God had brought the Choir that far.

“The album Great is Thy Faithfulness is a celebratory live production that encapsulates a decade of faith, perseverance and dedication to the ministry,” Gamuchirai said.

“The album features a collection of original songs and reimagined classics, all aimed at reinforcing the faith of listeners and celebrating God’s unwavering faithfulness.”

She said the album captured the essence of worship and the journey of faith that characterised The Vine’s ministry.

“The 13 powerful tracks on the album reflect The Vine’s mission to inspire and uplift through music. The album is a blend of original compositions and beloved hymns, all delivered with The Vine’s unique style, flair and passion,” Gamuchirai said.

The album’s executive producer, Everton, saluted the artistes featured on the album for their dedication and artistry.

“A special salute to the incredible artistes as well as all the other talented contributors, who lent their voices and gifts to this powerful project,” Everton said.

“Their ability to combine voices from around the world to create music that uplifts, inspires and glorifies God is truly remarkable.

“This live-recorded album is not just a collection of songs, it is a testimony of collaboration, faith, and the unifying power of music. I thank the artistes for embracing our vision. We look forward to seeing how the album will touch lives everywhere.”
