Creative filmmaker William Magombedze spoke about how he thrives to stand out from other content creators in order to continue gaining more followers streaming on his handles.

CREATIVE filmmaker Willard Magombedze, whose nom de guerre is Slimaz, says to survive in the film industry requires more than just talent of acting given that social media and digital platforms have crowded the industry with content creators.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Magombedze spoke about how he thrives to stand out from other content creators in order to continue gaining more followers streaming on his handles.

“Anyone can now create content and most of these content creators have less expenses or none because they use their phones. It takes creativity and consistency to attract followers,” he said

Magombedze also noted that diversity and engaging content with his audience has been able to keep him going and staying relevant in the film industry.

“There are different types of content on my channel so people come for edutainment, entertainment as well as diversified content,” he explained.

He encouraged aspiring filmmakers to start small, have fewer expenses and widen their marketing strategies by making use of all free platforms, instead of crying for sponsorship and promoters.

He also added that the country’s film industry is not yet stable and the corporate sector does not take it serious.

Magombedze made popular dramas such as Tunga and Tindike which were aired on the local television as well as Hakata, Rudo and other short films.

He is now streaming his dramas Hakata and Rudo on his YouTube channel Slimaz Pro tv. Apart from filmmaking, Magombedze has worked with popular artistes such as Mathias Mhere and Pah Chihera on their music videos.
