Award-winning gospel singer Everton Mlalazi has acknowledged the power of the cross in his latest single Zita Renyu (Your Name) which he dropped on his YouTube channel last Friday.
Written by Mlalazi and composed by Nigel Nyangombe, the song chronicles how God rescues people from sin and that he must be praised in heaven and on earth.
Zita Renyu follows the release of Nomakunje, his first song for this year that features Ladysmith Black Mambazo, a Grammy award-winning South African male choral group.
“The song Zita Renyu is written to acknowledge the power of the cross. How Christ came to die for us and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. There is no other name by which we are saved except the name of Jesus. His name must be lifted up, Zita ravo Jesu ngarimudzirwe,” Mlalazi noted.
“Romans 5:8 KJV [8] says ‘But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.’”
The soft-spoken praise and worship singer who fronts the Worship Therapy band, had a good 2022 that saw him bagging more awards.
Among the awards he won are Outstanding Gospel Artiste/Act at the annual Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards 2022.
This year Mlalazi is also expecting better as he opened the year by winning the Best Gospel Artist and the Best Male Artist award at the recently-held Matabeleland Awards ceremony.
