MINING giant Kuvimba Mining House (KMH) will host the 2024 edition of the Chamber of Mines Inter Mines Golf Tournament at the Hillside Golf Course in Mutare, NewsDay reports.

The tournament, popularly known as the Jumbo Golf Tournament, is a key event in the chamber's calendar, scheduled for September 21 and 22.

According to Chamber of Mines CEO Isaac Kwesu, the tournament will be hosted by Freda Rebecca, KMH's subsidiary, who will assist in coordination.

“Over the years, the event has brought together key participants on the mining value chain, our mines who are members of the chamber, associates, suppliers and all other important stakeholders," he told journalists on Tuesday in Harare.

Kwesu emphasised that the tournament offers a platform for networking, sharing information on improving mining activities, and discussing policy matters affecting the industry.

Participants will engage in discourse on critical issues and lobby for the industry's good.

KMH Group CEO Trevor Barnard stated that the venue was chosen to support local industry and suppliers in Mutare.

"Our vision at Kuvimba Mining House is to create a better future for Zimbabweans by developing mineral resources, creating value for stakeholders, and improving livelihoods sustainably," he said.

Barnard acknowledged the Chamber of Mines as a valuable partner, noting the tournament's competitive edge and networking opportunities among industry players.

The event will feature a cocktail function, dinner, and various prizes.
