Peer pressure, physical and sexual abuse have identified as key drivers of substance abuse according to Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) acting Pro-vice chancellor Eriyoti Chikodza.

Speaking at a workshop on fighting drug and substance abuse hosted by various institutions of higher learning in Masvingo this week, Chikodza who spoke on behalf of GZU vice chancellor emphasised the importance of peer educators in eradicating the drug abuse scourge that has affected a huge number of youths across the country.

"This gathering is important because it seeks to strengthen the role of peer educators in the fight against peer pressure, physical and sexual abuse and exposure to drugs, which are key drivers to drug and substance misuse," Chakodza said.
