Huawei Technologies Zimbabwe has launched its information and communications technology (ICT) Roadshow at the same time kicking off its social responsibility initiative dubbed: Seeds for the Future programme.

Seeds for the Future is Huawei’s flagship community and social responsibility programme which was commissioned by President RobertMugabe in China in 2014 and has benefitted over 10 000 students from 150 universities across 54 countries.
Beneficiaries go on a two-week hands-on learning experience, whereby they are given the opportunity to work closely with ICT experts in Huawei’s research laboratories in China. Ten students who major in ICT from five universities in Zimbabwe benefitted from the programme and the other 10 will be going to China this June.
Speaking at the official launch of the programme, Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services minister Supa Mandiwanzira thanked the Chinese government and China Exim Bank for providing the facilities to help NetOne.
“Nowadays, ICT technologies that enable connectivity are the engines that drive global sustainability. We welcome Huawei to continue to apply more ICT solutions here to enable the development of other countries,” Mandiwanzira said.
Speaking at the same event Huawei’s managing director Albert Yang, said his company was committed towards the growth of Zimbabwe’s ICTs. The Huawei 2016 ICT Roadshow started on June 1 until yesterday, showcasing the most innovative ICT solutions in areas of modernised data centre, e-solutions cloud computing and others.
