MEDIA mogul Trevor Ncube’s four-day Ideas Festival Conference kicks off today at the Troutbeck Hotel in Nyanga, with speakers from different sectors of the economy set to meet and discuss plans to shape Zimbabwe’s future.

This is the third edition of the In Conversation with Trevor (ICWT) Ideas Festival, themed Transformative Ideas to Power Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Ncube is the owner of Alpha Media Holdings (AMH), a private media company that publishes two weeklies, Zimbabwe Independent and The Standard, and the daily, NewsDay.

AMH also owns the online broadcasting company, Heart & Soul.

The four-day festival brings together some of the nation’s visionaries to connect, collaborate, network and inspire each other for the betterment of the Zimbabwe economy.

Ncube said topics like corporate governance and ethics, executive development, travel and tourism and personal growth were among the issues to be discussed.

“Through the Ideas Festival 2024, we are taking ICWT into a live space and amplifying the impact, learnings, innovation and thought leadership. This year’s theme is Transformative Ideas to Power Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The speaker line-up and panels emphasise the intersection of leadership, artificial intelligence, innovation and gender equality,” Ncube said recently.

“We will have fireside chats, ideas, storming panels and masterclasses. We are delighted that for the second year running, we will have the Ideas Tank featuring the Eight2Five Innovation Hub cohort. We are grateful for this partnership”

The keynote speaker at the event will be the founder of the award-winning Brand Leadership Group, Thebe Ikalafeng.

Some of the speakers to attend the festival include the Zimbabwe country manager for Economic Justice Lead Southern Africa Trust, Janet Zhou, banker and entrepreneur Nick Vingirai and WestProp Holdings chief executive officer Ken Sharpe.

MINDS founder and executive chairman Nkosana Moyo, Winfield Strategy and Innovation founder and CEO Precious Nyika and African Academy of Artificial Intelligence Executive chairman Terrence Okeke Taylor are some of the speakers.

Other speakers include chartered accountant and governance champion Nyasha Zhou, Chinese economist Keyu Jin, Old Mutual Insurance Company Zimbabwe managing director Gloria Zvaravanhu and Securico and Zvikomborero Farms CEO Devine Ndukula.

Travel Essence, Magazine and Narratives PR founder and editor-in-chief, Africa Olea Private Limited chief consultant Olivia Muchena, and Shona Prince Technologies Founder and CEO, Victor Mapunga, will also speak at the event.
