VICE PRESIDENT Constantine Chiwenga is set to headline the Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe’s (CGAIZ) 2024 annual conference next month, billed to tackle some of the challenges weighing down the economy.

The conference runs from September 18 to 21 in Victoria Falls under the theme, Governance and Accountancy Agenda - Towards a shared future.

CGAIZ chief executive officer Lovemore Gomera told NewsDay Business that they have lined up speakers to tackle key issues relevant to the profession and the economy.

“This year's conference theme is a ‘Governance and Accountancy Agenda - Towards a shared future’. The Guest of Honour will be Honourable Dr Constantino G.D.N Chiwenga, Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe,” he said.

“Members will get views on the economic transformative agenda for Zimbabwe and take stock of where we are as a country on vision 2030. This will be a panel discussion.”

Gomera said through this panel, they will explore ways meant to shape the future of Zimbabwe in terms of corporate governance, public financial management and policy.

He added that speakers will also provide insights and tangible advice on environmental social governance and how the country could tackle the energy and global climate challenges.

“There will be panel discussions on finance and investments, strategies for building wealth as well as storytelling by women in governance and accountancy,” Gomera said.

“Members will grow their networks and stay ahead of the curve by participating in the conference discussions. A panel that will focus on the future of work and how Zimbabwe can adapt to a changing landscape will close the sessions.”

The conference will also feature governance professionals, accountants, government officials, chief executive officers, managing directors and finance directors, among others.

Other attendees will include operations directors, risk and compliance managers/officers, auditors, human resources managers and officers, marketers, university students and learners studying accountancy, governance and auditing.
