The second AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2023) opens in Guyana Monday, signaling the deepening of trade relations between Africa and the Caribbean community.
This year’s edition runs from October 30 to 31 in Georgetown, Guyana.
The forum is convened by Afreximbank and the Government of Guyana and runs under the theme, Creating a Shared Prosperous Future.
Speakers at this year’s edition include President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and Afreximbank president and board chairman Benedict Oramah, among others.
According to organizers, the B2B engagements and panel discussions will include accelerating industrialisation and manufacturing capacity.
It will also include creating conditions to accelerate private sector investment, improving infrastructure, financing, and trade logistics.
Others are developing special economic zones and industrial parks, and promoting trade, tourism, and regional integration. It will also seek ways to improve agricultural productivity and agribusiness.
The AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum debuted last year in neighboring Barbados, to drive the growth of trade and investment between Africa and the Caribbean and was held in Bridgetown.

The inaugural event drew over 1,200 delegates from 108 countries, including participants from 50 African countries, 13 Caribbean countries, and regions as far away as Oceania.
ACTIF2023 comes as commercial cooperation between Africa and CARICOM has been growing, thanks to the support from Afreximbank.
This also comes as 11 CARICOM member countries are now participating States in the pan-African bank.
In August, Afreximbank opened a Caribbean office in Barbados as it moves to promote and develop trade between Africa and the Caribbean.
