XPlug Solutions a game-changer: NMB

Business
XPlug was birthed from NMBZ’s digital transformation initiative which commenced in 2019.

FINANCIAL services provider NMBZ Holdings says its innovative technology subsidiary, XPlug Solutions, will redefine the digital transformation and technology services landscape in Zimbabwe and Africa.

The subsidiary, launched recently in Harare, is expected to assist companies in their digital transformation journey.

Speaking at the launch, NMBZ chairperson Benedict Chikwanha said the introduction of XPlug was the group’s bid to expand its vision and embodiment of its commitment to adapt, grow, and stay at the forefront of innovation.

“The launch of XPlug, our innovative technology subsidiary, is set to redefine the landscape of digital transformation and technology services, not just in Zimbabwe but in Africa and beyond,” he said.

“XPlug is set to redefine the landscape and will see us being able to provide functional, reliable, and innovative home-grown solutions for Zimbabwe, Africa, and even beyond. We live in an age where technology is driving change at an unprecedented pace.

“Businesses are faced with the challenge of transforming themselves to stay relevant and competitive. XPlug recognises this imperative and stands ready to assist companies on their journey of digital transformation.”

Chikwanha said Zimbabwe and Africa has been, for years, saddled with the burden of  relying on imported solutions for technology and digital transformation.

XPlug was birthed from NMBZ’s digital transformation initiative which commenced in 2019. To expedite the transformation process and reduce dependence on external vendors, NMBZ made substantial investments in IT and digital transformation which was achieved within two years.

At the moment, XPlug is working on deploying some of these solutions with clientele in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, and even partners in India.

In an additional statement, the bank said the XPlug launch brought to three, the number of verticals that NMBZ has set up in the year, having established a microfinance division and setting up a standalone property company, NMB Properties.

“Our journey began with a dream, a dream of harnessing technology to address the unique challenges faced by Africa and to capitalise on the abundant opportunities within our grasp,” NMBZ Group chief executive officer Gerald Gore said.

“This is not just the launch of a company, but a testament of the ingenuity, resilience and untapped potential of Africa. For a very long time, Zimbabwe and even Africa have been heavily reliant on imported solutions for technology and digital transformation.

“XPlug is set to redefine the landscape and will see us being able to provide functional, reliable, and innovative home-grown solutions for Zimbabwe, Africa, and even beyond.”

XPlug Solutions launched with a wide range of products and services including software solutions development, robotic process automation, digital banking solutions, agency banking platforms, end to end digitized customer on boarding solutions, paperless internal workflow solution, cyber security consultancy and architecture.
