NMB Zimbabwe Holdings (NMBZ) says it will begin prioritising densification in the country, a topical issue in development and a critical solution to economic, and environmental sustainability.
The group revealed this while officially launching another subsidiary, NMB Properties, and opening 26 completed cluster homes in Marlborough, Harare, last week.
NMB Properties, according to NMBZ Holdings chairman Benedict Chikwanha, was set up to diversify the group’s offerings and to optimise a significant portfolio of properties and real estate opportunities within the group and the broader market.
“As NMB Properties, we have multiple projects in the pipeline. However, even as we are launching we have developed, delivered, and are currently managing several various projects with the highest quality and a green environmental footprint,” he said.
“Of note are the NMB Bank head office along Liberation Legacy Way, formerly Borrowdale Road, and the cluster homes we are officially opening today (Friday).
“The evolution of work, and indeed, our lifestyles, demand that we rethink the spaces in which we work and live. Developments both commercial and residential now fulfil multiple needs in a seamless manner, while taking sustainability into account.
“As a highly agile and innovative organisation, NMB Properties going forward is prioritising densification, a topical issue in development and a critical solution to economic, and environmental sustainability. This concept in line with current government policy, we hope will open up opportunities for collaboration with our stakeholders represented today.”
NMB chief executive officer Gerald Gore said as a bank they were working towards creating properties that are not only beautiful and functional, but also sustainable and responsible.

“As NMB, we have been active in the property space for a long time, both on the funding side via our mortgages unit as well as a number of property development projects that span across industrial, commercial and residential. We will showcase some of the developments in a video to be played later on,” he said.
Speaking at the event, National Housing and Social Amenities minister Daniel Garwe said: “Such projects by private institutions are highly commendable and we look forward to areas of collaboration in the future.”
Harare Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution secretary Tafadzwa Muguti said the bank was playing an important role in affording the capital city with more housing units as the population keeps growing.
“These homes are a welcome addition to the growing City of Harare, and we are looking forward to the over 5 000 pipeline projects across the country,” Muguti said.
