Zimbabwe, Tanzania share notes on sustainable HIV funding
Silas Nkala ·

ZIMBABWE has shared its domestic financing model for HIV and AIDS response with a visiting Tanzanian delegation, highlighting the AIDS Levy as a key mechanism for mobilising local resources and sustaining HIV treatment, prevention and care programmes.
Health and Child Care minister Douglas Mombeshora said the National AIDS Trust Fund, commonly known as the AIDS Levy, had enabled Zimbabwe to take greater responsibility for financing its national HIV priorities amid changing global health financing arrangements.
Speaking in Harare on Monday while welcoming a delegation from Tanzania on an exchange visit, Mombeshora said sustainable HIV programmes required national ownership, predictable domestic financing, strong institutions and effective partnerships.
