‘ZiG scarcity making everyday life worse’
NewsDay Staff ·

ZIMBABWE’S recently introduced Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) continues to struggle to penetrate the market, with monetary authorities drip-feeding the new currency into the economy, which has forced many people to rely on the United States dollar and South African rand.
According to a survey conducted by NewsDay, the unavailability of ZiG notes and coins has increased the demand of US dollars which has spurred the rise in the exchange rate, especially on the informal market, where the US dollar is trading at 1:25 against the ZiG.
On the official market, it is trading at 13,8156.
