Zanu PF unleashes ‘terror’ on 2030 dissenters
NewsDay Staff ·

THE ruling Zanu PF party has launched a witch-hunt targeting individuals who spoke against the proposed Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No 3) Bill during last week’s parliamentary public hearings, with several opposition activists allegedly fleeing their homes amid threats.
Victims, who spoke to NewsDay yesterday, mainly rural dwellers, said they were living in fear since opposing the Bill, alleging that ruling party youths are tracking them under an operation dubbed “Operation Makataurei”.
The reported intimidation comes in the aftermath of chaotic parliamentary public hearings on the Bill, which were marred by allegations of violence, intimidation and the suppression of dissenting voices in several parts of the country.
