Zanu PF councillor batters wife over conjugal rights

A ZANU PF councillor in Chegutu has been fined $400 for assaulting his wife over a domestic issue believed to be centred on conjugal rights.

Stanley Banda (45) was ordered to pay the fine by Chegutu magistrate Felix Chauromwe, failing which he would serve a four-month jail term.

Banda was last week arraigned before the courts by his wife, Mercy Banda (43) of 23 years after he assaulted her on the eve of Independence Day for spurning his sexual advances.
