Zanu PF activist jailed for assaulting MDC-T councillor
NewsDay Staff ·

A Silobela-based Zanu PF youth, Ranganai Kureta (28), was on Monday slapped with a three-month jail term for assaulting an MDC-T councillor, Willard Moyo, from the same area.
Kureta, who is Zanu PF youth vice-chairperson for Gobo ward in Silobela, was however spared jail after magistrate Sithembiso Ncube gave him an option to pay a $40 fine for kicking Moyo in the mouth and striking his head with an empty bottle.
The court heard the incident occurred on April 15 when Moyo and three other MDC-T members asked the driver of a bus they were travelling in to deviate from his route and drop them off at Machipisa business centre.
