Workplace injuries on the rise

THE number of workplace injuries and fatalities continues to rise despite the depressed economic performance in the country, it has emerged.

Addressing participants at the three-day National Conference on Safety and Health at Work that began on Wednesday, Acting Labour and Social Services minister Theresa Makone urged industry to place greater emphasis on safety to help minimise injuries, work-related illnesses and the unnecessary loss of lives of employees which was unacceptably high.
