We never made any profits in Chiadzwa: Anjin

DIAMOND mining company Anjin Investments has claimed that it never made any profits from its mining venture in the Chiadzwa diamond fields since 2012, because of the huge costs involved in underground mining.

“The Anjin mining area is of conglomerate diamonds that occur beneath the earth and the drilling depth is now 212 metres, and these diamonds are put in acid overnight to remove the conglomerate coating,” said Anjin deputy general manager Shingi Manyeruke on Saturday while addressing members of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Youth and Indigenisation led by Justice Mayor Wadyajena.

“Anjin then stopped doing conglomerate mining in 2014 and since then, we have been mining in dumps because economically, there was no justification to continue mining conglomerate diamonds.”
