Vumbachikwe Mine sued over $240 000 debt

GWANDA Rural District Council has dragged Forbes and Thompson Bulawayo (Private) Limited, trading as Vumbachikwe Mine to court over an outstanding $243 600 mining levy.

The council filed its summons last week accusing the mining firm of refusing to pay the agreed levies since last year.

“The plaintiff’s claim is for the payment in the sum of $243 600 being the total amount due to the plaintiff by the defendant as levies for the years 2015 and 2016 in respect of defendant’s mining location known as Vumbachikwe mine situated in Gwanda,” the summons read.
