Vincent starts strong in Manila

Daniel Nhakaniso ·

ZIMBABWEAN golfer Scott Vincent maintained his impressive form on the Asian Tour by posting an opening-round 66 to sit one shot off the lead at the $1 000 000 Resorts World Manila Masters in the Philippines yesterday.

The 24-year-old, who is chasing his maiden win on the Asian Tour since turning professional in June last year, got off to a dream start with three consecutive birdies on holes four, five and six before another gain on the par-five eighth to reach the turn on four under.

Vincent dropped his only shot of the day on the par-four 12th, but posted gains at the 14th, 15th and the 18th to finish with a solid opening round of six-under-par 66.
