UZ bosses in allowance storm
NewsDay Staff ·

Lecturers and other staff members at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) are up in arms with their bosses who allegedly awarded themselves hefty allowances which were not extended to everyone at the institution.
According to sources, departmental chairpersons, faculty deans and other senior administrative staff were surprised to receive “allowances” of up to US$2 500 recently without notice.
The sources said the recipients were told that the allowances were meant to cushion them against the high cost of living at a time when the majority of staff has petitioned the institution to increase their salaries.
