Teenager jailed 18 years for rape

A 19-YEAR-OLD rapist, Simbarashe Mike Kangondo, was yesterday sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment by regional magistrate Hosiah Mujaya after being convicted for bedding a 12-year-old neighbour’s daughter.

The convict will, however, serve a 14-year effective jail term after four years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.

The court heard on a date unknown to the State, but sometime in August this year, the complainant arrived home from school in the afternoon and decided to go and fetch water at their school’s borehole.
