Technology transfer can boost Sadc power generation
Veneranda Langa ·
Sadc Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) executive director Kudakwashe Ndhlukula says coal and hydro energy have been dominating in the electricity mix in Southern Africa, with only Angola producing oil, while other regional states are importers.
Ndhlukula said this while presenting a paper on energy at the Sadc Parliamentary Forum which is currently in session in Harare.
“Some of the challenges in the energy sector in Sadc region are that there has not been investment in generation and transmission for a long time, and there are challenges in supplies of coal to power stations,” Ndhlukula said.
