Teachers plot to doorstep Mthuli
NewsDay Staff ·

TEACHERS are planning to march to Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion minister Mthuli Ncube’s office today to demand a rescue package to enable them to report for work when schools open for the second term on Tuesday.
The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ), which is organising the march, said educators were earning poverty wages and were incapacitated to report for work.
One group is demanding the restoration of their pre-October 2018 US$540 salary and 30% of basic salary as rural and hardship allowance arguing that the local currency component “is now meaningless and continues to lose value on a daily basis”.
