Shumba takes basketball leadership fight to High Court as FIBA demands fresh BUZ elections
Kudakwashe Gahadzikwa ·

JOHNSON Shumba has gone to the High Court in a bid to hold on to his position at the Basketball Union of Zimbabwe, setting up a collision with FIBA, which has told the association to hold fresh elections to end its leadership dispute.
In a letter dated 19 October, FIBA said the co-presidency arrangement agreed after Shumba and David Pick tied in the last elections no longer has the support of all parties. The world governing body noted that the BUZ constitution provides for a single president serving a four-year term, and directed the association to hold fresh elections in line with that constitution and the position of the Sports and Recreation Commission.
